Cloud Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and support Azure cloud infrastructure to ensure scalability, performance, reliability, and security across environments (dev, test, UAT, production).
  • Implement and maintain infrastructure‑as‑code using Terraform (modules, reusable patterns) across multiple subscriptions and regions.
  • Develop and operate CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps (YAML pipelines, templates, release processes) for application and infrastructure changes.
  • Implement and improve monitoring and observability using Datadog and Azure Monitor (metrics, logs, dashboards, alerts) for proactive incident detection.
  • Collaborate with product, architects, developers, QA, and cloud engineers in AU–VN to design and deliver solutions that meet functional and non‑functional requirements.
  • Promote DevOps and cloud best practices (automation, standardization, documentation, continuous improvement) and support incident investigation and release activities, including occasional out‑of‑hours releases when required.

Requirements

Must have:

  • 2+ years of hands‑on experience in Cloud / DevOps / Infrastructure roles with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure.
  • Practical experience with key Azure services: networking (VNets, NSGs), compute (VMs/VMSS), storage, databases, App Services/Functions, and preferably containers/AKS.
  • Strong skills with Terraform (modules, state management, environment separation) and experience managing IaC for real projects.
  • Experience with CI/CD in Azure DevOps (YAML pipelines, templates, variable groups, approvals, basic release strategies).
  • Experience with monitoring/observability concepts and tools such as Datadog and/or Azure Monitor (metrics, logs, alerting).
  • Good Git skills and experience working in agile teams (Scrum/Kanban), plus basic scripting ability in PowerShell or Bash.
  • Strong ownership, problem‑solving mindset, and communication in English to work effectively with Australian stakeholders.

Nice to have:

  • Experience operating workloads on AKS or Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of Azure security best practices (IAM, managed identities, Key Vault, network security) and cost optimization/FinOps basics.
  • Deeper Datadog experience (APM, log pipelines, Synthetics, custom metrics) or exposure to tools like Bicep, Ansible, Helm.
  • Experience in financial services or regulated environments, and/or relevant Azure or Terraform certifications.
