Python Technical Lead

Orient Software is looking for a Backend Team Leader (Python) to join a newly established engineering team supporting a long-term international product partner in the telecommunications technology domain. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building scalable backend systems while leading and growing a dedicated engineering team working directly with overseas stakeholders. You will be the first key technical hire, playing an important role in shaping team structure, engineering practices, and delivery standards as the team expands.

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

• Lead and mentor a backend engineering team.
• Design and maintain scalable, reliable backend services using Python.
• Drive architecture decisions with focus on performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Establish engineering best practices including code quality, testing, and observability.

Product Delivery & Ownership

• Work directly with international stakeholders to translate product requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure stable, production-ready releases with strong API reliability and system resilience.
• Contribute hands-on to backend development when needed.
• Promote end-to-end ownership instead of task-based execution.

Team Development

• Act as the main technical focal point managing the dedicated offshore team.
• Build strong communication and collaboration across distributed teams.
• Support future team expansion and onboarding of additional engineers.
• Foster proactive mindset and continuous improvement culture.

Requirement

• 5+ years of backend development experience.
• Proven experience as Technical Lead / Team Lead / Senior Backend Engineer with mentoring responsibility.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python (Django or similar frameworks preferred).
• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Solid understanding of scalable API design and production system operations.
• Strong communication skills working with international teams.
• Proactive mindset with high ownership and accountability.
• Interest in long-term product development engagement.

Nice to Have

• Experience building integration platforms or workflow automation systems.
• Exposure to AI-related backend features (e.g., transcription, summarization, automation).
• Experience with distributed or high-traffic systems.
• Familiarity with telecom or real-time communication systems is a plus.
